Metropolitan Police has released an update following a stabbing in Orpington.

A man was stabbed in the leg in Longbury Drive on Monday.

Police attended the scene and four males were arrested on suspicion of affray.

The victim was taken to hospital according to London Ambulance Service.

Metropolitan Police has since today (Tuesday) said that the four suspects have been released with no further action.

The force added that the investigation remains ongoing.

The full updated statement said: "The four suspects have been released with no further action and the investigation remains ongoing."

Weapons were seized and a Section 60 was authorised to give police more stop and search powers in certain Bromley areas following the stabbing.

On Monday, London Ambulance Service told the News Shopper: "We were called at 4.40pm today (30 August) to reports of an incident on Longbury Drive, Orpington.

"We sent an ambulance crew, who treated a person at the scene and took them to a hospital."

An initial statement from the Metropolitan Police on Monday said: "Police were called at 16:30hrs on Monday, 30 August to reports of a male stabbed at Longbury Drive, Orpington.

"Officers and London Ambulance Service [LAS] attended.

"At the scene a male, no further details, was found suffering stab wounds to the leg.

"The injured male was taken by LAS to a south London hospital. We await an update on his condition.

"Four males, no further details, were arrested on suspicion of affray. They were taken to south London police stations. Enquiries are ongoing.
