Bromley’s Churchill Theatre is opening its doors for the first time since the start of the pandemic this weekend, kicking off a packed programme.

Tribute act Frankly Sinatra will be the first act to grace the stage since March 2020, with Stephen Triffitt taking on the music of the iconic performer on Sunday (August 15).

He will be followed by a host of well-known comedians over the coming weeks, including Bromley local Rob Beckett and ‘pub landlord’ Al Murray in September.

A spokesperson for the theatre said: "We’re excited to reopen with events at full capacity and have a fantastic live-entertainment programme through summer, autumn and beyond.

"Your safety, comfort and enjoyment remains our number one priority."

Musicals will return with SIX, Priscilla Queen of the Desert and Chicago arriving between October and November.

Fan favourite The Rocky Horror Picture Show will then be leading the musical bill for 2022.

Dial M For Murder, the genre-defining thriller based on Alfred Hitchcock’s world-renowned film, is running from Tue September 21 –25, and the Theatre’s first co-production since reopening, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, debuts later in the month.

Brand new productions will also be setting the Churchill stage alight in January 2022 with Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code starting its UK tour in Bromley from Sat 8 – Sat 15 January and Cluedo, a new play based on the classic detective board game, premiering between Fri 28 January and Sat 5 February.

For those looking to keep the kids occupied during the school holidays this summer, there are some fabulous shows on offer with In The Night Garden Live and Horrible Histories: Barmy Britain both returning to Bromley after sell out runs in previous years.

The Churchill Theatre’s hugely successful annual pantomime will also be back later this year, with Sleeping Beauty starring Lee Mead as The Prince alongside Bonnie Langford as The Good Fairy, Myra DuBois as Carabosse and Lloyd Hollett as Muddles.

The theatre received a £435,000 Government grant to help guarantee its reopening in October last year. 

Its reopening was further delayed in June, after the Government extended lockdown restrictions.
