A stunning new rooftop garden has opened in Bexleyheath.
Residents living at the Eastside Quarter can now enjoy panoramic views across Bexley and beyond.
Housing developer Bellway London opened the garden which features a lawned area with seating and large floral borders on the roof of the eight-storey building.
The opening of the rooftop garden marks the completion of Alderton Court and Craft Court - two of three apartment blocks which are being built on the site of the former civic offices on Broadway.
Construction work at Eastside Quarter is due to finish by 2023. When completed, the development will comprise a total of 518 apartments, as well as 3,000 square metres of commercial floorspace on the ground floor.
Emma Hamlett, Sales Director for Bellway London, said: “The rooftop garden is a beautiful relaxing area which provides a valuable outdoor space for the residents and the view are absolutely stunning.
"While there are several green spaces within just a mile of Eastside Quarter, including Russell Park and Martens Grove Park, the provision of this rooftop garden means the residents of Alderton Court and Craft Court can enjoy the great outdoors without having to leave the building.
“One of the effects of the pandemic is that more and more people are placing greater importance on outdoor space when choosing a new home and this development certainly delivers that with this communal rooftop garden.
“Eastside Quarter continues to be very much in demand with buyers, thanks to its prime town centre location which offers easy access to Bexleyheath’s main dining, shopping, and leisure attractions.
"Easy access to the A2 and being situated just a 10-minute drive from the town’s railway station also make this a superb location for commuters.
“At Bellway London, we pride ourselves on providing high-quality apartments at attainable prices for first-time buyers in the capital, and the homes at Eastside Quarter have proven particular popular with those taking their first step steps on the property ladder.
"With all apartments priced well below the London Help to Buy price cap, a significant proportion of buyers have used the Government scheme to enable them to purchase with a smaller deposit and mortgage.”
