Movember is an event that takes place each year in November for a variety of reasons. The annual event includes men growing their moustaches (‘Movember’ being a combination of the words ‘Mo’ and ‘November’) in order to raise awareness of men’s health issues, such as prostate cancer, other cancers exclusive to males and the charities that are associated with said health issues.

Harrison: Have you heard of “Movember” and do you know what it is?

Idraq: Yes. I’ve heard of Movember and I am aware of what it is.

Harrison: Do you support what Movember is trying to achieve?

Idraq: Movember is an integral part of today's society, especially in Gravesend. As we all know, Movember is an annual event in the month of November in which people grow moustaches. The purpose of this is to raise awareness for men's health issues. This is held dear to our hearts in Gravesend, especially in our school, as a very precious member of staff passed away in recent times, due to testicular cancer. For this reason it is important and is a highly integral part of November in Gravesend. Because of this I, personally, fully support this campaign, as the school has taught us of the incredible attempts of this month.

Harrison: Do you see many people partaking in and supporting Movember in Gravesend? Where?

Idraq: Obviously I don’t know if people have that moustache as per usual or for Movember, but some people really do take part of it. However, in our school I notice a LOT of teachers participating in this prolifically participated event. Particularly, an avid participant of the event is Mr. Burton, who once grew a genuinely crazy beard! In general, many teachers take part in our school, and I like it because it give me an excuse to laugh at my teachers! However I don't see too many people doing it in Gravesend, and I would certainly participate if I could.

It is clear that Movember has become a commonly partaken in and appreciated event in society, and for good reason! As they raise both awareness for health issues, and money for charities involved in those issues they are helping to improve the quality of life for many. In Gravesend, it could be said that Movember is not partaken in by quite a large percentage of the men in my local area, but on the other hand there are still many that do. For example, at Gravesend Grammar School (as stated by Idraq above) many teachers view Movember as a form of competition, as to who can raise the most money and who can grow the "Best Moustache".

Movember is accepted and supported for good reason, as their cause is to help with a variety of health issues (cancers, and even mental health) which is a rightgeous and respectable goal for any organisation.
