The 1960's, we in England was blessed with some of the very best household names. Performers from all over the UK traveling to gig and concerts some of which went down in history. Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, The Who and The Beatles. These are only some names of a very long list that changed the face of rock music forever. These days with the aids of social media, better music equipment and more accessible education also in music surly its easy to be a hit now than then?
To find out I went to a number of gigging venues in the local ares of Welling, Bexley, Dartford and Sidcup where I found the essential beginning for young talent on our door steps.
Brandon Halsey (17) Is a singer songwriter guitarist who preforms the local venues for gigging experience and with a view to gain recognition for his talents. I asked Brandon what he though of the music industry today and how he indents to get recognized as a performer?
''It's tougher then it looks! I've only been at this for not even a full year yet and it's hard you have to keep working at it. I'm trying to gig in more pleases as regular as I can, to me that's the best way to get known and to build up my reputation.''
The big names of the past got to there height of fame with out the invention of social media, further education in the music as wells as more accessible equipment. I asked Brandon what his thoughts was on these advantages?
''Of cores I'm on social media, I'm not the only one. I don't think that's an advantage at all, if it's more easy for more people to get famous then you'd be competing against more people who want the same fame as I do.''
Brandon Halsey had no gigs lined up for the rest of the year but has plans to attend and preform open mic events such as the Iron horse in Sidcup December 1st and 15th. And at the Railway Tavern in Bexley village on the 10th of December.
