Let’s Win the Fight Against Breast Cancer!

Would you wear an item of pink in aid of a good cause? Well lots of people would! Pink day is one day every year where lots of people join together in the fight against breast cancer and wear at least one item of pink. Men and women across the country took part in pink day last month on Friday 24th October.

Pink day has been running for 13 years now and it raises over £2million every year for World – Class breast cancer research!

At Charles Darwin School, many 6th formers took part in pink day. Every one that took part wore at least one item of pink and brought in £1 for every item they wore to raise money. Matt Lucas in year 12 said, “I think it’s a fun way to raise money for World – Class breast cancer research.” He then carried on saying, “It makes a change to a normal school day by adding a little colour, and this lets other people know that you’re contributing towards cancer awareness.” This is a very effective but fun way to raise awareness and money! Many pupils enjoy participating in an important event such as this.

With thousands of women dying from breast cancer in the UK every month, the fight isn’t over. With more and more people wearing pink each year, more money is raised, meaning that more research can be done to find a cure! Hopefully this day will come soon and will save many people’s lives.
