On Saturday 15th November, the Chislehurst May Queen Society hosted a quiz night at the Christ Church on Lubbock Road, Chislehurst. The society, which has hosted their annual crowning ceremony on almost every May Day since 1923, was aiming to raise funds so that they can continue their tradition.

The event was extremely well-received, being attended by approximately sixty members of the society and the local community. The evening comprised of an assortment of rounds full of fiendishly hard questions, and the categories ranged from music and sport to film and general knowledge. Children were not left out, being given a fun quiz of their own to complete - the winner was awarded with some chocolate, which went down very well! A midway interval featured a fish and chip supper for all the competitors, and the night was finished off with a raffle where lots of prizes were given.

One attendee said it was “an enjoyable evening in a very pleasant setting, topped off with some lovely fish and chips!” whilst two of the night’s organisers, Holly and Christian Mole, were also delighted with how it turned out. Holly, who had the difficult task of arranging the food for everyone attending, said the funniest moment for her was seeing her husband “dancing along with the music round” while Christian, who took on the role of quizmaster, added , “It was a great evening and I think everybody had a good time – plus all the fish and chips got eaten!”.

Overall, it was a very successful night for all involved and hopefully helped the society to keep their tradition going for many more years!
