I really enjoy shopping, especially exploring new brands and shops.
So, I was very keen to visit the latest addition to The Glades, in Bromley town Centre, as I had heard very positive feedback from friends and family.
Søstrene Grene is a Danish retail company which was founded in the 1970s and is still owned by the same family.
Its website describes the shop as one where, “You can always find a wealth of graceful products for renewal of the home and creative pursuits, "
As I approached the entrance, I wondered if I would agree.
There’s certainly a feeling of excitement and anticipation as you enter the shop laid out in a labyrinthine style, winding pathway which cleverly draws you into the various areas.
The walls are dark, but the carefully placed lighting makes for a magical atmosphere which is enhanced by calm, classical music.
Each turn around the corner leads into, yet another section filled with attractive, enticing objects all linked by a common theme.
In addition to Homeware and gifts there are teas, biscuits, gardening tools and a multitude of craft accessories, all beautifully presented and very reasonably priced.
There are beautiful wooden toys, dressing up clothes, little suitcases with picnic equipment and much, much more to inspire young shoppers.
It really is an Aladdin’s Cave where you can find objects designed exclusively for Søstrene Grene which will appeal to many tastes and budgets.
Personally, I love stationery and was in stationery heaven when I saw what Søstrene Grene has to offer in this department.
Notebooks, planners, calendars all decorated in subtle patterns of muted sage greens and pale blues really appealed as they were both beautiful and practical.
I was very pleased with the diary I purchased, especially as it cost less than three pounds!
The manager of the shop explained that the name means “Sisters Together “and is an expression of the sense of community which the company fosters.
They are presently expanding their shops around the London area and were encouraged by the reception they were receiving, with weekends being especially busy.
He added that shoppers were enjoying the variety of goods on offer, but their best seller was definitely the lollipops!
The company regularly updates the merchandise so there is always something new to discover and there are also a variety of creative tutorials online which are free to everyone.
I had a sense of a real attention to design and detail, and I came away feeling happy and inspired.
Definitely a thumbs up from me and I look forward to many more visits.
