This month of November, a prestigious sporting event by the name of the London Youth Games took place.
On the 16th, I had the opportunity to attend the cross-country race as an observer.
Hundreds of young athletes gathered in the grand Crystal Palace National Sports Centre to claim their place as champions.
It is an amazing achievement that our Borough of Bromley claimed victory above all others and came first place!
I interviewed a member of the winning team, Victor Andreyev, a student at Hayes Secondary School.
How did you prepare yourself for such an event?
I participated in their park run every week since the trials. It was a difficult commitment but my determination helped me to push through.
Did your training get more intense towards the end? If so, how did you combat that?
Yes, I must say that it did get harder, but as I said previously, I constantly reminded myself to stay determined and focused, and the reward will come.
How did it feel to hear your team announced as the winners?
Well, Bromley has been the champion for four long years in a row, so we were not entirely surprised. However, we were all extremely proud of ourselves and all of our effort. It was exhilarating.
Will you return next year?
This has been such an incredible experience that I am so grateful to have, so I probably will be participating next year.
Thank you, and congratulations!
