This new sport has recently been introduced called pickleball.
Whilst many of us may not have heard about this before, and I must admit it does have a rather strange name, pickleball is spreading like wildfire mainly popular in the USA.
At first glance pickleball is a 2 or 4 player game using a paddle to hit a perforated hollow ball.
Containing elements of badminton, tennis and ping-pong, pickleball is a great sport to try out for all ages.
While you might not believe it pickleball was actually invented in 1965 by a man called Joel Pritchard.
You may ask how he came up with a name as absurd as ‘pickleball’.
In fact it is a reference to the thrown- together leftover non-starters in the ‘pickle-boat’ of crew races.
Although invented quite a few years ago, why has it only become popular now?
Whatever the reason is, now it is here and hopefully to stay.
