The Arden Theatre is a small theatre located within Faversham.
It puts on lots of different spectacular plays.
The Arden Theatre is a registered charity and welcomes the help of volunteers and donations.
It is run by a committee of eight volunteers with their own specific roles.
It remains to this day as an active part of the Faversham community, partaking in the carnival every year.
Jo and Richard Andrews, who help to run the theatre, said:
It has become a cultural hub for the town offering performance arts for the community.”
Each year, they put on approximately seven plays with an amazing Christmas performance with the help of volunteers.
They work closely with the youth, running AYT (Arden Youth Theatre) every Saturday as well as including roles for youth within some of their productions each year.
The Arden Youth Theatre is an amazing way for the youth to make friends, build confidence and learn amazing life skills.
Everyone who joins AYT or even just partakes in some of their productions will find it extremely beneficial.
Even if you don't want to get up on stage you could always help out behind stage or even in the audience.
Either way, you’ll leave the theatre craving for more.
They are a hub of creativity and are their own little family.
The Arden Theatre welcomes newcomers and within days, you’ll already feel part of their community.
Anyone can get involved and help and I highly recommend it as it is extremely beneficial for your wellbeing.
Jo and Richard Andrews have also said:
It gets people out and about in the community, meeting new people, making friendships, feeling worthwhile and part of a time.
It is also an opportunity for creative folk to express themselves.”
From personal experience, I know this to be true with many of my friendships coming from the theatre.
In the future, the plan is to expand the theatre, physically as well as through doing more productions and more activities.
For them to expand, they need the funds and donations so to help them out, buy some tickets, see a play, lose yourself in the moment because that’s when you truly feel the power of theatre.
