Guernsey is the top spot to visit if you are a history buff. With and 800-year-old Castle Cornet and it’s five museums; the German occupation museum for an insight on life in Guernsey during the Second World War, the world renowned, Victor Hugo, author of Les Miserables, former residence where many of his masterpieces were written during his exile and Fort Grey which was a former Martello tower.
Guernsey’s fresh and local food will not disappoint. With many different cuisines and thriving restaurants to choose from it does make it hard a choice to make when deciding where to eat. Guernesey is also filled with many local breweries, wineries and cider makers to check out.
If you are visiting Guernsey, I would definitely recommend visiting one of its sister Islands, Sark. About a 30-minute boat ride from the channel island, you can step back in time to place where there are no cars. You could get a tour of the Island by a horse-drawn carriage or explore by foot. Its tranquillity and uniqueness is definitely worth visiting.
