SIDCUP boxer Danny Carr is looking forward to getting his hands on his first senior ABA national title next season.
The 22-year-old Fisher ABC member fought six times last season, winning five of his contests and losing just one by a tight score of 17-16 in the London ABA final to three-times national champion Simon Corcoran.
Carr said: “Ninety-nine percent of the crowd at the Fairfeild Halls in Croydon thought I’d won clearly, including my opponent’s coaches.
“I had already boxed two hours earlier in the London semis and won 27-6.
“I’m so excited to be getting back into the ring in October to get on with the biggest season of my career.”
Carr has high hopes of making the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Scotland.
He ended the season on a high with back-to-back victories, the last of which was at Glentworth Working Man’s Club in Dartford, where he beat southern counties prospect Ricky leach (Isle Of Thanet ABC) with ease, the referee having to step in and give leach an eight count in the last round.
