The South London & Kent Pool Alliance Elite League title went down to the wire with Rileys Hotshots edging past O’Connors by one point to take the title.
Both teams went into the last match level on points and frames won so it was winner takes all in their respective matches.
Hotshots played hosts to bottom club Royal Oak whereas O’Connors were playing last summer’s winners Rileys Woolwich.
A brilliant 3-0 13-2 win for Hotshots gave them an amazing chance for the title as O’Connors had to equal or better that.
They started well winning the first two sets 4-1 but couldn’t afford to lose any more frames so when they went 2-1 down in the final set it was all over.
Paul Donohoe went on to win a close fought frame from an impossible position to give Woolwich the set and Hotshots the title as the match finished 2-1 10-5 to O’Connors.
Elsewhere White Hart finished strongly against already relegated Erith Snooker Master 8’ers with a 2-1 10-5 win.
They won the first set 3-2 and the second 5-0 but took their foot off the gas a little in the final set losing it 3-2.
Dan Fenech was the player of the night winning all three of his frames and he was supported by Shaun Shepard and Ian Cruwys with two out of three and Scott Shephard winning his solitary frame.
After the championships were already won in both SLKPA Tier Two divisions the excitement lay in the race for second and a promotion playoff spot and the fact second played third in both divisions made it even more nail biting.
Tier Two West had Rileys Rovers travelling to Fox under the Hill who were one point ahead of their rivals and games between the two are always close affairs.
Rovers won the first set 3-2 and took the first frame of the second set but Fox won the next three frames to tie the match in sets and go 5-4 up overall before Rovers took the final frame of the set.
Fox won the first frame of the final set but Rovers took the next three including a fantastic break and dish by Ryan Francis in his third win of the night to win the match and take second spot in the league with the final score 2-1 8-7 to Rovers.
Beech Tree Nuthouse continued to fall away in the last few weeks of the season after a 3-0 12-3 defeat to Summerfield but they stay in fourth place.
Kings Arms are behind them in fifth after sharing the points with Bellegrove Social Club B as they won 8-7 in frames but Bellegrove won 2-1 in sets.
It was a strong second set that really helped Kings Arms as they won it 4-1 with Ernest Chin winning his only frame of the night and Clive Forrest his first of two frame wins.
Division champions Rileys Choppers finished their season strongly with a 3-0 12-3 victory over bottom club Glenmore Arms II.
In Tier Two East New Eltham Social Club had to produce a big win to replace their opponents Glenmore Arms A in second place but it was all over after the first set as Glenmore won it 3-2.
New Eltham went on to win a tight match by taking the next two sets by the same 3-2 score line making the overall score 2-1 8-7.
Billy Dolby was in sparkling form winning three out of three for New Eltham and Andy May played well to secure two out of three, while Chris Unwin bounced back from being 7-balled by Paul Thomas to gain revenge on him in the next set.
Along with Thomas’ 7-baller, Mark Carrano won his two frames and Barry Barham two of his three frames for Glenmore.
Fittingly the deciding frame was between the two captains, Steve Unwin and Tracy Serff which was narrowly won by Unwin.
Glenmore now face Rileys Rovers in next week’s playoff to see who takes the final promotion place in the Elite League.
Bellegrove Social Club A ended their championship winning season with another big win 3-0 13-2 over fourth placed Porcupine to stay unbeaten for the season.
Steve Pearce, Ron Brown and John Skuza won all three of their frames while Richie Marsh and Shane Hutley only lost one each.
