Maidstone 16 v 6 Beckenham
Rugby Union London League Two South
A FURIOUS Sam Howard labelled his team's league performance against Maidstone as unacceptable'.
Maidstone were without a win in two games until their victory over Howard's team.
He said: "The only positive is we can never play so badly again, it is just unacceptable."
The opening 20 minutes were dull as neither side seemed capable of stringing together any phases of play.
However Maidstone began to control possession and recycle the ball to build phases of play.
It was from one of these Beckenham ran out of defenders to allow left winger Nick Diessner go over for the opening but unconverted try.
Beckenham responded without scoring until they gave away a penalty with Craig Whitehead converted.
The visitors took the game to Maidstone in the second half but it was not long before the hosts regained control.
However, Michael Fealey scored a penalty to give his team hope but the next score belonged to Maidstone as Nick Sergeant went over for an unconverted score.
To their credit Beckenham tried to take the game to Maidstone but were rewarded with only another penalty which Fealey completed.
Despite the score Beckenham were not able to complete a comeback and fullback Richard Arnold scored a drop goal for Maidstone to end a miserable afternoon.
Beckenham host London Irish Amateurs at Balmoral Avenue on Saturday, ko: 3pm.
