Bromley 10 v 20 Charlton Park
Rugby Union London League Four SE
CHARLTON Park won their first league match of the London League Four South-East season, overcoming Bromley.
The visitors had the best of the opening exchanges and it was against the run of play when home side scored a try following a solid forward drive.
Charlton Park's response was swift and from the re-start they were awarded a penalty which Michael Casizzi kicked to narrow the gap.
Playing well Charlton continued to press but a lapse in concentration proved costly as a wayward kick was kept in play and Bromley scored their second try.
Charlton's direct running by Barry O'Keeffe and Jake Smith continued to cause problems and during the last 10 minutes of the first half Charlton's enterprise was rewarded through a second successful penalty kick from Casizzi.
It required a fine chase back and tackle from Hugues Avce to prevent a third try for Bromley in the opening plays of the second half.
Charlton began to dominate and following a break from Smith, aided by Reece Morgan, Chris Hampton was on hand to score a try for Charlton and give them the lead.
Casizzi added his first of two conversions.
Poor decision-making by Bromley cost them dearly as, following a wayward pass, Morgan intercepted the ball and scored Charlton's second converted try.
The match finished with Charlton defending their goal line against a string of attacks but once again the home side continued to take wrong options when they spurned several kickable penalties to run the ball instead.
