Wharfedale 14 v 15 Blackheath
Rugby Union National League Two
A DRAMATIC 45-yard penalty in the fourth minute of injury time by fullback Frankie Neale stole the points for Blackheath, writes Jack Kay.
Blackheath, known as Club, climb to 7th in National League Two after the narrow victory.
Neale, scorer of all 15 points with his boot, said: "It was good to get a ball back in my hands.
"Our forwards stuck to their job well and we took the game to them.
"As for my winning kick from 45 yards I was as shocked as anyone."
Skipper Tom Bason said: "Frankie deserves a huge pat on the back for his brilliant kicking."
Club had to come from behind as Wharfedale took the lead on 12 minutes through Chris Malherbe with Andy Baggett converting.
Neale missed a penalty but was successful with two others to leave Club 7-6 down at half-time.
The lead was theirs soon after the break thanks to another Neale penalty but Wharfedale were back in control within minutes.
Malherbe was again the thorn in Club's side breaking away easily from a ruck to go over the line for a converted score.
Neale brought Club within two points with his fourth penalty success minutes before the end.
Then came the dramatic moment deep in injury time when Neale slotted the ball between the posts from 45 yards to silence the noisy home fans.
Club host Redruth this weekend, kick-off 3pm.
