Kent Ravens 22 v 20 Golbourne Parkside
Under-13s
THE 2006 season ended on the field with a win for the Ravens' under-13s against tough northern opposition Golborne Parkside.
Parkside showed their experience with some magic moves but it was the Ravens who took control first from debutant Thomas Chapman when he scored the first and second of his hat-trick of tries.
But Parkside battled back when they used the space from a scrum to pounce over and as half time came the teams were locked at 10-12 to Parkside.
A fantastic second half display from fullback Michael Abbott scoring one try and setting up another gave the Kent side the edge.
However it was backs to the wall with 10 minutes to go as Golbourne scored a try and added the extra points to bring the scores to 22-20 to the Ravens.
There was still time for Parkside to work their way up the field from the kick off to be only 10m out on the last tackle.
The stand-off put the big kick up in the air trying to seek out his left-wing, centre and second row only for the smallest man on the field Jack Sankey the Raven to rise above them all and claim possession.
Even though the season has ended the Kent Ravens are already recruiting to add to their strong men's, women's and junior sections for next year.
All teams will get to play in the Ravens' new home - the magnificent 4,000 capacity Princes Park stadium in Dartford.
