CHARLTON has its newest tennis sports star.
Kate Green, 18, won her first Tropicana British Tour title in Tunbridge Wells.
The teenager, who trains at Sundridge Park, beat Georgie Hingley 6-3, 7-5 in the final.
She said: "I was really nervous about playing.
"I got a walkover on Thursday so was a bit worried about being straight into the quarter-finals but once I got going it was fine."
Kate began playing at 12 years old and remembers facing Hingley early on in her tennis career but would rather forget the result.
She said: "I lost 6-0, 6-1. It was pretty bad. To win today was great and it shows I've come a long way.
"I felt comfortable today and thought I played a great match so I'm very happy."
