"WE'VE come, we're here, we've conquered," were the words used by Kent Athletic Club's jubilant A-team track and field coach Ken Pike after it was confirmed promotion had been achieved.

The Lewisham-based club saw their A and B-teams, finishing second and fifth respectively, clinch promotion to the British League Division One and the Southern League Division One.

Kent's A-team is now one of the top 16 teams in Britain.

There were high class displays all round at their last matches of the season.

For the B-team at Worthing the youngsters shone brightly.

Nuka Kpoturu came second in the 110m hurdles as well as the triple jump and Aaron McCammon got a new personal best of 52secs in the 400m while second.

In Crawley Sean Mulligan's time of 52.6secs was a new club record in the 400m hurdles.

Jeffrey Lawal-Balogun, the new kid on the block, was first past the line in both the 100m and 200m.

Conrad Williams stormed home to victory by a clear two seconds in the 400m.

James Connor fought hard to get a new personal best of 9mins and 19.5secs for the 3,000m steeplechase.

When it came to the 4x400m relay, the last event of the day, Kent performed heroics by bringing the baton home first and marking off an historical day for the small south London club.
