IT HAS been another season to remember for a hammer thrower-cum-wannabe midwife.
Donna Kent, 16, not only retained two titles she also improved her personal best (pb) on no more than five occasions.
The season started for the Dartford teenager, who is set to go to college to study midwifery, with victories in the Opens at Kingston in March and Kings Lynn in April.
Her throws of 41.05m and 42.50m respectively set the tone for the season as they were pbs.
Donna, who competes with Bexley Athletic Club, then went to the Kent County Championships to defend her unbeaten three-year reign.
However she was not on form on the day and threw a poor, by her standards, 36.30m although this was still enough to win the gold by 7cm and retain the title.
The South of England Championships in Chelmsford saw a return to form as Donna threw another pb of 42.66m to retain her title.
There was no stopping her now as rivals in the Kent Schools Championship in Ashford in June discovered after Donna threw yet another pb of 43.64m to win the gold.
During the journey to the English Schools Championship in Gateshead last month Donna was unwell and could only throw 39.50m, just missing out on a medal in fourth spot.
The teenager's next big competition was the British Athletics League Jubilee Cup held in Bedford.
Despite being the only under-17 in the field she still managed third.
Then it was off to the under-17 AAA's in Birmingham where the competition was of a very high standard, with the top 7 all throwing over 40m.
Donna was in good form and threw yet another pb of 44.34m to win the silver medal.
