TWO best friends have dominated Kent Order of Merit golf tournaments on the coast.
While Alfie Plant won the Walmer Open and Kingsdown Junior meeting and the Princes Open, he was pipped to the Royal Cinque Ports Junior Open by friend Oliver Hollis.
The 14-year-olds, from Shooters Hill Golf Club, beat 70 other golfers to claim their titles with Oliver having to sink a 50ft putt to beat his friend at Royal Cinque Ports.
Golfers aged from eight to 18-years-old make up the Kent order of merit playing at 34 of the county's best courses.
At Walmer, Alfie shot a nine under par 63 off his 11 handicap and at Princes he hit a four under par 68.
There was high drama at the Royal Cinque as the duo from Welling battled it out until the last hole.
All looked lost for Oliver when he found heavy rough and all he could do was come out sideways.
Alfie, who attends Hurstmere School with Oliver, was on the fairway but pulled his 210 yard approach shot to the side of the green.
Meanwhile, Oliver found the green hitting 200 yards into the wind before he sank the massive putt to score 64 and take the title.
Alfie said: "I want to thank the Kent County Golf Union, organiser Ian Betts and my coach Nigel Lee.
"All the hard work we put in over the winter is paying off."
