WESTCOMBE Park let the game slip away all too easily as they went down to a 32-10 defeat at Worthing.
Combe led 10-7 after 20 minutes thanks to a Gideon Roux try and a conversion by Luke Giles to add to an early penalty.
But as half-time approached they shipped 10 points in the last four minutes as a try, conversion and a penalty left them seven points adrift at the interval.
Worthing centre Greg Sullivan ghosted through for the easiest of tries early in the second half.
Stand-off Stuart Pearman added the points and kicked a penalty shortly afterwards to leave Combe suddenly trailing 27-10.
This is how the score remained for virtually the rest of the game but what will worry Combe is despite containing Worthing, they never really posed a threat to their opponents and anxiety led to a mistake strewn second-half when handling errors and lineouts were a real problem.
In the last minute of the game, lock James Sullivan secured Worthing’s bonus point with a try.
