Gravesend Rugby Football Club played hosts to: Kent County Playing Fields Association’s, (KCPFA), Chairman, Helen Skellorn and Secretary, Paul Peacock; Mayor of Gravesham and Councillor Bill Lambert; Kent County Councillor and Gravesham East Council Member, John Cubitt.
The occasion was the presentation of a £25,000 cheque to GRFC Chairman, Graham Haggar, which was given as a low cost loan towards recently completed roofing work at the clubhouse in Donald Biggs Drive, Gravesend.
Helen Skellorn said how pleased she was that the KCPFA were able to help such an important sports facility in the Borough, and also that the Mayor was able to attend - not only in his official capacity for Gravesham, but also as a long standing representative and supporter of the work of the Playing Fields Association.
GRFC chairman, Graham Haggar, expressed his thanks on behalf of the rugby club and stressed how important the support from KCPFA would be during the season that sees the club enter its first season in National League 3.
Paul Peacock echoed the sentiments of Helen Skellorn and added that the KCPFA have been pleased to be able to assist Gravesend Rugby Club, and also hope the contribution not only advocates the work of the association but that it may help attract new members. He went on to say that the Association has helped a number of sports clubs in the Borough and that it will be pleased to offer assistance to others in the future.
