OLD Gravesendians’ players benefited from the expertise of a pair of London Wasps coaches last week.
Tony Hanks, Wasps’ director of rugby, and forwards coach Trevor Woodman travelled to Gravesend to spend a few hours giving 40 Old Gravesendians players the benefit of their vast knowledge.
New Zealander Hanks replaced British Lions manager Ian McGeechan as director of rugby at the Premiership giants last year.
Woodman won 22 caps for England before taking up coaching and was part of England’s 2003 World Cup winning squad.
He was the Australian national team’s forwards coach before joined Wasps.
Both coaches gave freely of their time to help a selection of players from all of Old Gs’ teams, including some colts, who picked up some top level rugby drills and coaching tips.
The evening session, organised by Alison Day, was a great success and the two coaches stayed after the session for a drink and a meal with the players before returning to London.
