DARTFORD Harrier Claire Capon was selected by Kent in three B string events at yesterday’s senior inter-counties track & field meeting at Ashford.
Capon placed fourth in the hammer (30.02m), second in the 100m hurdles (16.58s), and fifth in the 400m (67.95s).
Rosalind Seeley won the B string discus with 41m17s, while Aaron Barham was fourth in the B high jump with 1.80m.
The previous Sunday saw the annual SEAA U17 inter-counties meeting at Stevenage.
Eight counties were each represented by an A and a B string athlete per event.
Conditions were good, although there was a strong head wind on the home straight.
Results: U17 ladies - Natalie Hickmott 300m A 2nd, 42.0 (she also ran a storming last leg in the 4x300m relay in which Kent was awarded first place ahead of Surrey with both teams given a time of 2m47.2s); Hannah Searing hammer A 3rd 31.73m; Lucy Hickmott 800m B 4th 2m27.0s.
U17 men - Alex Bell 200m A 4th 22.9s.
Bell also ran in the 4x100m relay in which Kent came second (44.7s) and were just beaten by Middlesex.
William Dellow took advantage of the electronic timing at Dartford Harriers’ open meeting in Central Park on August 8 to record a personal best of 18.47s in the U15 150m.
This performance, a big improvement on his previous best of 19.18s, places him at fifth in the UK rankings.
