WORX Crescent Suzuki’s Tommy Hill is ready to defend his points lead on home territory at Brands Hatch this weekend.
The Kent circuit plays host to the triple-header round of the MCE Insurance British Superbike championship, where the title leader aims to increase his two point advantage.
There are now just five races until the top six riders in the overall standings become the title fighters in the showdown over the final three rounds of the championship.
And with so much at stake, the tension between the main contenders is set to be immense at Brands.
Hill currently leads closest rival Josh Brookes on the HM Plant Honda, but the Australian won two of the three races at the previous round, so is sure to be a threat on the Grand Prix circuit.
Likewise, his double championship-winning team-mate, Ryuichi Kiyonari, lies third and is hoping to repeat his recent run of podium finishes.
The regular BSB contenders will also have to fight off the challenges from the Kawasaki World Superbike team as Tom Sykes makes his return to Brands.
Hill said: “This is the home round for me but I have to approach it like any other.
“We needed podiums last time out at Snetterton after two disappointing rounds before that and that is what we did with three podiums.
“However, we know that we need to get back to winning ways as although the focus is on the top six, the podium credits are vital and three extra points at Brands Hatch could mean the difference between winning or losing the title come Oulton Park.
“It is a good feeling to arrive at Brands Hatch leading the standings, but Josh and Kiyo showed Honda will be up there too and you can’t rule anybody out.
“We are arriving this weekend with our heads held high and with the intention of getting the Worx Crescent Suzuki back on the top step of the podium again.”
Advance adult weekend admission tickets cost £30 online with children aged 12 and under admitted free.
