ANDY Thomson’s Blackheath & Greenwich BC quartet of James King, Paul Field and Tom Doig won through to the final of the Kent county fours this week.
A 22-14 quarter-final win at Sandwich BC against Shaun Green, Kieron Moss, Shaun McCaughan and Jamie Dunn was followed by a 20-6 semi victory over Shaun Coyle, Lee Shoebridge, Mark Johnson and Paul Barnicott.
In the county pairs, James and Jeff King just failed to emulate their club colleagues, going down to Andy Boatwright and Bob Shields (Horton Kirby) 19-11 in the semi-final.
Previously they had beaten Cliff Lampert and Paul Brett (Sandwich) 30-17 in the quarter-finals.
Blackheath & Greenwich failed in their bid to reach the regional finals of the Bowls England national club two fours after losing 50-22 in the area finals to Folkestone Park.
Andy Thomas’ rink lost 19-10 to Jeff Vane, while Neil Hornsby’s rink went down to Chris Taylor 31-12.
In the NW Kent League, leaders B&G lost at home to Westerham 4-2 (35-21 in shots).
B&G ladies won their first round tie in the NWKL cup away at Swanley by 48 shots to 22.
Carol Smith’s triple won 24-13, which was matched by her club mate Doris Smith who won 24-9.
