WOOLWICH & Plumstead Bowls Club are keen to remind people living in the area of their existence.
Despite going strong for 105 years, the Foxcroft Road club feel there are still too many residents in the surrounding district who aren’t aware of the activities on offer.
The bowls season includes matches with other clubs, mainly in south east London, but there are also occasional days out to Herne Bay.
Club member Tom Smyth said: “There are also many who would like to try their skills on the bowling green but are put off by the traditional dress code, the minimum being grey trousers or skirts and white above the waist.
“A new addition to the club’s busy calendar occurs every Wednesday evening at 6pm when members, family and friends come along to the club and give the game of lawn bowls a try.
“Except for a pair of smooth soled soft shoes, no other dress code is required.
“In effect it is the club’s dressing down evening and one which should suit those keen to try without any immediate expense.”
