NORTH West Kent College is offering a BTEC extended diploma in sports performance and excellence with attached cricket academy status from September.
The purpose is to provide learners aged between 16 and 18 with a recognised education qualification, while providing an opportunity to develop their cricket skills at the same time.
The cricket academy has been set up following the success over the past two years of the college’s football academy.
North West Kent College are currently in the process of updating their cricket facilities in line with the new sports complex due for completion in 2011.
With such facilities, qualified staff and access to professional cricket coaches, the college is in a position to offer skill-related opportunities to sporting hopefuls with a view to achieving professional sports status.
