With two games to play the Royal Oak need only six points to secure the Tier 2 East title and promotion to the Elite Division of the South London & Kent Pool Alliance.
They maintained their seven points lead over Erith Snooker Master 8’ers after an important 2-1 in sets (10-5 in frames) away win at Our Lady of the Rosary with Phil Tworek winning both his frames for the Oak.
Erith Snooker Master 8’ers achieved exactly the same result at home to the Blue Anchor , who have moved into third spot, and are favourites for the playoff with the runners up in Tier 2 West.
New Eltham Social Club came from 6-4 in frames down against the White Hart to win the last set by 4-1 and claim two points. Freddie Cook was awesome winning 2/2, Stephen “Stingray” Unwin played a captain’s role also 2/2, including the deciding frame, and his 14 year old son Chris was outstanding for New Eltham.
In Tier 2 West division the Coach & Horses took advantage of the Fox Under the Hill’s free week to open up a four point lead with a fine away win at Bellegrove Social Club by 2-1 in sets (9-6 in frames) with Paul Turner winning all three of his frames for the Horses.
The Old Tigers Head got their first win of the season with the 3-0 in sets (9-6 in frames) home win against the Kings Arms who remain fourth.
In the Elite division the Hotshots maintained their three point lead at the top over O’Connors by defeating the Pickwick by 3-0 in sets (12-3 in frames). Joe Prince was in sparkling form winning 3/3 for the Hotshots, ably assisted by Tony Bailey 3/3 and Andre Cox who had lady luck on his side in his 3/3.
Despite Miro Cujic winning 3/3 and Sean O’Connor 2/3 for the second week running, the Rack Pack fell badly to O’Connors losing 3-0 in sets (10-5 in frames). One frame at O’Connors saw Jordan O’Connor play Sean O’Connor!
Riley’s Woolwich are third , three points behind O’Connors, after beating Riley’s Rovers by 2-1 in sets (9-6 in frames) despite a 7 baller from Faisal Saleemi for Rovers.
The Summerfield, helped by the five point penalty imposed on Riley’s A, climbed off the bottom spot by beating Riley’s A by 2-1 in sets but losing 8-7 in frames and thus sharing the points.
