Week 5 of the summer season of the South London & Kent Pool Alliance saw a new leader in the Tier 2 West Division.
The Fox Under the Hill took maximum advantage of the Kings Arms week off and move three points clear of them at the top of the table by defeating the Old Tigers Head by 3-0 in sets (9-6 in frames). Simon Evans was outstanding for the Fox winning all three of his frames for the second week running.
The Coach & Horses have narrowed the gap behind the Kings Arms to two point and remain third after being awarded a walkover following the Gallies no show.
Bellegrove Social Club thumped a three man Dutch House Nuthouse by 3-0 in sets (13-2 in frames) and remain in contention.
In Tier 2 East division the Royal Oak’s Mark Hill put in a captain’s performance winning 3/3 in their 2-1 in sets (9-6 in frames) victory over the Blue Anchor which leaves them five points clear at the top of the table.
Erith Snooker Master 8’ers have climbed two places to second with this comprehensive defeat of the inexperienced New Eltham Social Club by 3-0 in sets (12-3 in frames). Paul Clarke, who we understand to have won 10/11 this season, Paul Williams and Glen Bradstreet all won 100% of their games despite New Eltham putting up a strong fight in the final set losing it on the last frame.
Scott Shephard’s White Hart have also climbed two places to third with a credible away win at the Running Horses by 2-1 in sets (9-6 in frames) and trail Erith Snooker Master 8ers by a single point.
In the Elite division O’Connors suffered their first defeat of the season against Riley’s A but still lead the division by three points. After winning the first set by 3-2 in frames O’ Connors gradually lost control of the match going down 3-2 in the second set and 4-1 in the final set. Riley’s A claiming victory by 2-1 in sets (9-6 in frames).
Riley’s Woolwich have moved into second place with both Adam Everitt and Paul Donohoe winning 3/3 to ensure a 2-1 in sets (10-5 in frames) win over the Summerfield who have slipped to the bottom of a very competitive division.
Riley’s Rovers bounced back from losing the first set decider to defeat the Hotshots by 2-1 in sets (8-7 in frames) and earn their first win of the season taking them above the Summerfield. Ryan Francis was in exceptional form seven balling Steve Krishnan on his way to winning all three of his frames and Faisai Saleemi made an impressive debut securing the deciding frame with Darren Porter and Jamie Kay also making notable contributions for Rovers.
In a match that was extremely hard fought the Pickwick took the honours with a 3-0 in sets (9-6) in frames victory over the Rack Pack. Tony Frost was inspirational winning 2/2, including a seven baller in the first frame, for the Rack Pack but his efforts were to no avail as Gary Mason clinched two set deciders in an important win for the Pickwick which propels them into fifth place in the table.
