SWANLEY & District Athletics Club runner Rachel McGuiness was the first lady through the finishing line this weekend when she won the first Beast in the East 10K run at the motor cross circuit at Canada Heights in 52m48s.
A total of 350 runners lined up at the start, with the first lap being the 1.8km motor cross circuit followed by woodland paths around Farningham Woods.
They finished with the tough hilly circuit again at the end and it was a race certainly not for the faint hearted.
Four other Swanley & District runners took part in the race: Mick Boddy (55m03s), Peter Godbee (59m34s), Sharon McGuiness (1hr02m04s) and Chris Barber 1hr09m29s.
Swanley & District AC meet on Sunday mornings, Monday evenings and Wednesday evenings for organised training sessions and a great social atmosphere.
All runners are catered for from top club athletes to complete beginners, so get on your running shoes and come along to meet the friendly team.
