BLACKHEATH & Greenwich won their Bowls England double fours against Met Police A 50-33 at the Warren.
Met Police got off to a good start and led 17-8 at five ends but B&G’s A team responded by scoring 19 shots in the next five ends without reply to take a 27-17 advantage.
The lead remained the same over the next 10 end despite a fightback by Gary Brock’s rink, who scored eight shots in two ends to level at 17-17 with Neil Hornsby.
B&G weathered this mini storm and increased their lead to 12 shots at the finish as Andy Thomson beat Steve Savage 26-14 and Hornsby finished 24-19 against Brock.
The champions of division one B&G and met division two winners Swanley in the opening fixture in the NWK triples league.
With one end to play the scores were tied at 31-31.
B&G’s Ted Wyeth had seven second shots but was one down to Mike Clayton. Wyeth was left with no choice but to fire and saw the jack fly off the wrong way, giving Swanley three shots and a 34-31 win.
With two league games last weekend, B&G and pulled off a great 5-2 (89-84) win against Sidcup and followed it up with a 4-1 success against West Wickham.
The LX O60s team continued their great start with a third straight win as they defeated Duke of Kent Court 6-4.
