HARTLEY played host to Sevenoaks Vine on Saturday in the KCL Premier Division looking to get their season off to a winning start following a rain affected first week of the campaign.
The Vine batted first and started brightly reaching 80-0 but were soon skittled out for a total of 179.
Dale Carter was the pick of the bowlers (4-51), backed up by Dan Redwood (3-51).
Hartley began their chase and soon reached the target of 180 in 45 overs.
Top scorer was Patrick Underwood (43 not out), followed by C Hemphrey (39).
The following day saw Hartley visit Hastings & St Leonard’s in the first round of the ECB national knockout cup.
Hastings batted first and got off to a flying start but were restricted to a total of 232-9 off the allotted 45 overs. Carter once again proved the most economical with the ball (4-37) backed up by skipper Dave Thompson (2-29).
Hartley responded with 236 from 44 overs with notable knocks from James Thompson (53), Underwood (71) and Redwood (29no) to seal a place in the next round.
