A MARTIAL arts expert from Petts Wood won bronze at the British council for Chinese martial arts (BCCMA) national sanshou competition earlier this month.
Lewis Cross represented both the borough of Bromley and his martial arts school, Sanshu UK, at the championships, which attracted competitors from Britain and Europe.
Sanshou is similar kickboxing with throws and ring outs.
The sport is becoming more recognised in the UK having built up a strong tradition in China and the USA.
Cross was entered into the 70kg junior weight category and won his second fight by a technical knockout to secure a podium finish and a bronze medal.
He is now looking forward to winning gold next year as a senior fighter.
Sanshu UK kung fu classes take place every Monday and Thursday between 7pm and 8pm at Ravensbourne School.
