THE Kent county athletics championships at Ashford’s Julie Rose Stadium was beset by cold winds and rain this weekend but Dartford Harriers defied the conditions to return home with 28 medals.
There were 10 golds, 12 silvers and six bronzes with several English schools qualifying (ESQ) standards achieved, as well as AAA grade one standards.
Multi-eventer Claire Capon had a hectic weekend coming away with five senior ladies’ medals.
U17 Natalie Hickmott won the 300m with an AAA grade one performance, which was also an ESQ time, as was her second place in the 200m.
Another double ESQ performance came from Samantha Brown when winning the 80m hurdles (AAA grade one) and second place in the 300m hurdles.
U20 Tim Billings won gold in shot (AAA grade one, ESQ) and discus.

Dartford Harriers road runners had a very active Bank Holiday, taking part in the Nun’s Run in Central London on May 2 and the Whitstable 10k on May 3.
Nineteen members ran at Whitstable, with the ladies' team fifth out of 12 clubs and the men sixth out of 13.
Cara Oliver was Dartford's first lady with a time of 46.19 and Daniel Pyne was first man timing 36.38.
