OLD Elthamians’ U15s sevens squad emerged victorious from the recent Kent sevens tournament at Ashford RFC.
A total of 20 teams from across the county took part in the competition, which saw four pools of five teams play each other in a league format before the knockout stages.
Old Elthamians played a very physical Beckenham side in their first pool game, but brushed them aside 35-0 by keeping the ball and running in some top quality tries.
Dover (35-0), Thanet (35-7) and Medway (28-0) all fell by the way as Old Elthamians went through to the knockout stages as group winners.
Tonbridge Juddians were trounced 42-0 in the quarter-final and Elthamians then brushed aside Old Colfeians 35-14 in the semis to set up a final clash with Blackheath.
Blackheath looked like they had the competition in the bag after racing into a 21-0 lead inside five minutes.
However, Old Elthamians fought back to ensure it was all square at 28-28 at full-time and Noel Scott’s extra-time winning golden try secured a 35-28 victory and the trophy.
