Blackheath's participation in the annual London Floodlit Sevens tournament at Rosslyn Park last Thursday ended in abrupt and disappointing fashion.
Despite some early pressure, and a try for Matt Vaughan, the Club were no match for a strong Harlequins seven, who hit back with five scores in a comfortable 33-5 victory, eliminating Blackheath from any chance of reaching the competition's final stages before the floodlights had even been switched on.
In their second pool match against Richmond, the Club salvaged some pride with two tries from Richard Windsor, and a third from Tyson Lewis, but let their advantage slip for the scores to end level at 21-21.
An England side under the banner "Dig Deep England" won the event, beating Saracens in the final 17-5.
