Week 2 of the summer season of the South London & Kent Pool Alliance produced an array of quality pool between some of the best exponents of World Eight Ball Pool Rules in the area.
In the Elite division O’Connors have started impressively with their second win of the season by 3-0 in sets (11-4 in frames) away at the Summerfield and top the table by one point from the Hotshots. Jason Baker was in top form for O’Connors breaking and dishing in one frame and producing a total clearance in his other. Greg Phillimore made up for his mistake in his first game by pulling out a top run out in his second.
Last year’s champions the Hotshots also made it two wins out of two by defeating Riley’s A by 2-1 in sets (9-6 in frames) and are still a force to be reckoned with despite losing some of their experienced players.
The Pickwick bounced back from last week’s poor display to beat Riley’s Woolwich by 2-1 in sets (11-4 in frames) with Paul Gafa winning all three of his frames.
The Rack Pack recorded a fine win away at Riley’s Rovers by 2-1 in sets (10-5 in frames) with Alex Winter seven balling Martin Wallace in the first set. Rovers may well struggle in this division and are missing some of their key players from last season.
In Tier 2 East the Royal Oak have opened up a three point lead at the top of the table following a stunning display, with clearance after clearance, to beat a shell shocked New Eltham Social Club by 3-0 in sets (11-4 in frames). Phil Tworek 3/3, Steve Heather 3/3 and James Grant 2/2 for the Royal Oak were in exceptional form.
The Blue Anchor continued their indifferent form of last season, after winning away last week they managed to lose at home this week to the White Hart by 3-0 in sets (9-6 in frames).
The Running Horses put last week’s defeat behind them to overcome the experienced Our Lady of the Rosary by 2-1 in sets (9-6 in frames) and move into third place in the table level on points with Our Lady in second and the White Hart in fourth.
In Tier 2 West the Kings Arms are top, without dropping a set, after a second 3-0 in sets (9-6 in frames) victory this time away against the hapless Gallies.
The Old Tigers Head struggled against a strong Coach & Horses side losing 3-0 in sets (12-3 in frames) with Paul Turner, Luke Pritchard and Brian Baxter all winning 3/3 for the Horses.
The Fox Under the Hill, who occupy second place in the table a point behind the Kings Arms, continued where they left off last week to dispatch the Dutch House Nuthouse by 2-1 in sets (9-6 in frames) with Kevin McNelly winning 3/3 for the second week running and Steve Cole winning both his frames for the Fox.
