WELLING'S premier boxer Carl Woolcombe has reached 20 fights without defeat after overcoming Eugenio Monteiro on points.
The light-middleweight, who was fighting on the David Haye bill at York Hall in Bethnal Green, won by six points after the eight-round bout.
Woolcombe said: "It was a scrappy fight as he made it very difficult by holding all the time.
"At the end I thought there had been nothing but holding, but when I saw a replay it was clear I was trying to box.
"He kept using his head as well so I am grazed over my face."
The 23-year-old, who was relaxing with a fishing rod, could be featuring in a title fight in May but he is waiting on confirmation from his promoters.
Friend and fellow boxer Sam Webb from Chislehurst was on the same bill and he beat Gatis Skuja from Latvia on points over four rounds.
Sam said: "I made hard work of an easy fight. I felt really good in the dressing room but after two rounds I was shattered.
"I think my preparation has not been the best this time round and rather than the 180 punches I throw per round in training I only threw 310 over the whole fight."
