BLACKHEATH and Bromley (B&B) Athletic Club have been rewarded for astounding performances last year with a domination the track and field rankings, writes Pat Calnan.
The senior men's and women's rankings are published in Athletes Weekly a magazine which collates all scores from all events over the year and 30 of the top 50 finishes came from B&B athletes.
Highest placed was Michael Skinner, the current Kent junior cross-country champion, in fourth spot for the 5,000m with his time of 13mins 56.68secs.
The ardent Chelsea fan was ranked 10th in the 3,000m, 11th in the mile and 17th in 1,500m.
Next highest was Britain's top marathon runner Mark Steinle ranked sixth in the 10,000m with a time of 29mins 18.79secs.
Mark was the first British finisher at last year's London Marathon where he secured Olympic Selection with a club record breaking time of 2hrs 11mins 18secs.
He is also the country's number one over the half-marathon finishing as first Briton at the World Championships and timing 62mins 23secs at the Great North Run.
Great Britain under-23 international Scott Overall was ranked 10th in the 5,000m with 14mins 3.10secs and Dave Taylor who was ranked 10th in the marathon after recording 2hrs 18mins 47secs.
Montell Douglas flew the flag for the women as the sixth quickest over 100m in 11.56secs the fastest in the country by a junior athlete and 13th in the 200m in 23.93secs.
Inter counties champion Liz Hughes was ranked in seventh place in the pole vault after she cleared 3.95m and although she has a personal best of 4.16m she was prevented from improving it because of niggling injuries.
Other seniors on the lists included Fabian Collymore, Jonathan Barbour and Tyrone Lewis in the 100m, Andrew Rayner in the 3,000m, Sam Bobb in the triple Jump, Allan Williams in the pole vault, decathlete Alex Pope and Bella Clayton in the 400m.
Like Montell Douglas, Stuart Harvey is a junior athlete mixing it with the seniors in the ranking lists.
Stuart completed last year as the unbeaten javelin champion and his best throw of 66m placed him 16th.
His ability in the discipline has caught the eye of company McQuay Services who have agreed to sponsor the 18-year-old this year.
Injury and illness affected the rest of the listing although Ed Harrison missing much of the summer events finished 24th in the 400m hurdles with 52.72secs and Micheal Whitehouse was 46th in the high jump despite missing virtually the whole season recovering from meningitis.
Similarly the Association of Amateur Athlete's (AAA) under-20 champion Amir Williamson missed two months of the summer with injury but was still placed 40th in the hammer.
In the long-jump new member Ashley Harris was 40th with a leap of 7.04m.
Juniors Natalie and Hannah Olson were placed 13th and 16th in the pole vault while Christine Lawrence finished the year 15th in the senior javelin by throwing 44.24m.
Rachel Blackie and Vickie Thomas were placed 17th and 21st respectively in the hammer with throws of 51.37m and 48.98m while under-17s Shaunagh Brown and Flo Clark were 27th and 43rd in the discus with distances of 42.43m and 40.20m.
Three more under-17s featured in the track ranking with Chelsea O'Rawe Hobbs 17th in the 3,000m walk, Serita Solomon 35th in the 100m hurdles with 14.41secs and Katie Murray 30th in the 400m hurdles with 62.21secs.
The club is taking bookings for the Bees Academy for youngsters in school years four, five and six.
