AT THE halfway stage of the North West Kent Netball League (NWKL), Kent Club (KCNC1) are sitting pretty at the top of Division One.
Following victory over Wealden2, KCNC1 are unbeaten with seven of the season's 14 matches played.
It is a big step toward their goal of winning the league title for the second year running.
KCNC1's Leo Bacchus said: "Beating Wealden 2 was a great end to the first round of the season.
"With both first team main shooters out of action because of injury the newly-promoted Jodie Fergus proved her weight in gold in this match.
"She teamed up with Jenny Pearson in the shooting circle and the two were sensational, hardly missing a goal and producing impressive stats."
She added: "This left the rest of the team defending and attacking tirelessly in order finish with a good win."
Just two points behind KCNC1 in the table are Wealden1 and they certainly look capable of catching the leaders if they keep the pressure on.
When the two met in a thrilling game recently the final whistle came as a relief to KCNC1 who won by just one goal.
Despite the disappointment of losing by such a small margin Wealdon1's Hazel Strudwick says the club was focusing their efforts on the National Clubs league, where they are currently unbeaten in division 2.
Next in the division are Tel Stars1 who are just three points ahead of a trio of clubs on 23 points.
Tel Stars1's Laura Pettet said: "We have had some very tough games in the NWKL but have battled for our position winning four and losing three.
"We have had a great start to the season not letting any of our opponents relax and constantly fighting for the win."
She added: "We have also played our first two National Clubs League games winning one and losing the other."
Down at the bottom sit KCNC2 and Daggers1, the latter not having won any of their seven games thus far this season.
