Beckenham 19 v 0 L'don Nigerians
Powergen Intermediate Cup 4th Round
BECKENHAM Rugby Club progressed to the final 16 of the Intermediate Cup for the first time in their history with a comfortable win over London Nigerians.
Tries from hooker Eddie Redding, captain Jarred Tipene (right) and debutant Alex Morrill plus two conversions from the boot of Brendan Moore were enough to over power the visitors.
Beckenham's Danny Allen and Steve Klein were sent off by the referee to take 10 minutes rest for various offences but despite playing 20 minutes of the second half against 14 men London Nigerians lacked the guile to outfox Beckenham's resolute midfield defence.
Club chairman Neil Millan said: "It was a great weekend for the club, not only did the first team go through to the last 16 for the first time, our second team also won their 10th league game in a row.
"It demonstrates the strength of the club."
Beckenham make the long trip to the Kent coast to play 7th place Thanet Wanderers next Saturday, kick-off 2.30pm.
