Aylesford Ladies 6 v 5 Beckenham Ladies
ON A fresh, bright sunshine Sunday afternoon Beckenham Ladies took on the league leaders Aylesford, writes Alan Davies.
A fair but hard-fought battle ensued with the teams giving no quarter as the ball went end to end.
An early penalty put Aylesford 3-0 up but Beckenham did not throw in the towel and stormed back with a well-taken try by Lynne Dawber giving her team a half time 5-3 lead.
The battle continued in the second half but Beckenham were once again penalised for being offside and Aylesford went ahead 6-5 and there was to be no further score.
Beckenham coach Alan Davies said: "Being coach of this team makes me proud and humble. They have come a long way and have learned a lot.
"The game, as always, has it's heroes and forwards Jo, Denise, Amy, Shannon and Lynne all had outstanding games while the backs Anna, Lucy, Breda and Charlotte were at their best."
He added: "All the players have the potential to make a team which people, in years to come, will admire."
