Burnt Ash 1 v 3 Sutton V South Hockey League
HIGH-FLYING Sutton Valence visited Ash at Hurstmere School and grabbed the points late in the game.
Valence opened the scoring from a short corner early in the game which produced plenty of end-to-end action.
Ash equalised from a short corner by Michael Gillett.
A Burnt Ash spokesman said: "The half-time scoreline was unjust on Ash but you have to convert your corners and Ash had nine opportunities to do so but missed out."
Ash thought they had scored mid way through the second half only for the ball to rebound from the edge of the post.
They were then hit on a counter attack and once again Ash had to chase the game and were caught at the back for the third in the last few minutes.
It was better news for the mens 2nd XI against Eastbourne 3rd XI as they won 6-1.
Two first-half goals from James Stratton and strikes from Nick Rose and Andy Atkin had the game sealed by half time.
Ash scored two further goals from Atkin in the second half as he netted hat-trick number two of the season.
But Burnt Ash third team lost to Bexley rivals BBHC's second string 6-1, Richard Young the only scorer.
The first half was hard fought with both sides putting together some good moves.
After the break Ash seemed to be playing against more than 11 players with ex-national league player Chris Deeks guiding BBHC throughout and they took control and ran out easy winners.
