JONES IN THE CLEAR: Kent wicketkeeper Geraint Jones has been cleared of any wrongdoing over the dismissal of Nafees Iqbal in the second innings of England's second test against Bangladesh at Durham. Jones claimed a disputed catch, which prompted the batsman to return to the middle on the advice of his team-mates. But the umpires refused to change their decision and according to ICC match referee Alan Hurst, "the video evidence was inconclusive" meaning Jones (pictured above right) was subsequently found not guilty of bringing the game into disrepute.
KING OF SPIN: Kent included two spinners in the side which beat Glamorgan in the Frizzell County Championship game at Sofia Gardens when James Tredwell, who took two wickets, came in at the expense of South African all-rounder Justin Kemp. The other spinner was Min Patel, who took one wicket and scored a career-best 87 in the first innings. But the star of the show yet again was Martin van Jaarsveld, who set up Kent's ten-wicket win with an unbeaten score of 262 in the first innings.
FULTON FUMING: David Fulton has criticised the ECB over its decision to uphold the eight-point deduction it imposed on the county for what it deemed to be an unsatisfactory surface at Maidstone's Mote ground. Fulton said: "Surrey's ball-tampering was deliberate cheating. We just turned up and saw a damp pitch but instead of 18 points we took away just ten."
