Beckenham welcomed Chichester to Balmoral Avenue and got revenge for the away league defeat earlier in the season with a comprehensive victory by 33 to 12.
The home side were made to work hard for their victory and it was not until midway through the second half that were able to make the game safe against a side that have spent the entire season in the top half of the table.
The first half was a series of tit for tat three pointers: Ted Mahutariki knocking over three penalties for Beckenham against three Richard Adams penalties for the visitors. The only difference being a sweet left-footed James Perry drop goal to give the hosts the lead at the break by 12 to 9.
Beckenham came out confident in the second half, playing with the elements and the slope but were made to think again as Chichester levelled the game with another Adams penalty. But that proved to be the last time they troubled the scorer as the home side took control and dominated the remainder of the game.
Firstly Perry added a second drop goal to restore the lead and soon after Ted Mahutariki added a difficult penalty chance to take the score to 18 to 12.
Then, after great work by George Daniels in the loose, Beckenham quickly recycled and Perry fired a cross field kick and substitute Mark Barber was on hand to collect and touch down out wide for an unconverted try and open an eleven point gap.
Despite stand in skipper Pete Thorne being sent to the bin for 10 minutes, the home side continued to dominate and Ted Mahutariki was give the chance to slot over another penalty.
The home side saved the best until last as following a Beckenham scrum just inside the visitors half, number eight Thorne picked and broke through the first line of defence and fed scrum half Vai Mahutariki who made ground and drew the last defender to give the supporting Luke Aylward the chance to run in near the posts. Ted Mahutariki added the conversion to leave the final score at 33 to 12 and take Beckenham into the top half of the league.
