AN Orpington roofer is preparing to make his professional boxing debut in Crawley on Saturday.
Daniel Woodgate, 26, has been an amateur for several years now but decided to turn pro after reaching the quarter-finals of the ABA light heavyweight division.
He has been snapped up by former British and Commonwealth champion Michael Alldis, who is also promoting this weekend’s show at Crawley’s K2 Leisure Centre.
Woodgate will take on Adam Wilcox, an experienced opponent who has a dozen fights to his name.
Trainer Alldis revealed Woodgate has been preparing well for his big night.
He said: “I’m expecting a comfortable win.
“First fights can always be a bit nervy because you want to impress.
“It is understandable but I’ve told Daniel to forget about that and just go out there and concentrate on what you’ve been trained to do.
“I want him to relax.”
