With one week remaining of the winter season in the South London & Kent Pool Alliance the Coach & Horses have claimed the First division title and the £150 prize money.
In another exceptional display Ed Travers, Brain Baxter & Mark Ramsey all 3/3 made major contributions to the Coach & Horses 13-2 in frames thrashing of Riley’s Ramblers for whom Scott Foster won both their frames. Coach & Horses now have a twenty point lead with one match to play so are First Division champions and promoted to the Premier Division.
After winning 11-4 in frames away at the Gallies, the Summerfield need five points from next week’s match against the Coach & Horses to guaranty second place and automatic promotion.
Our Lady of The Rosary, who play Riley’s Ramblers in their final game, look favourites for third place and the playoff after narrowly beating the Anglesea Arms by 8-7 in frames.
In a close fought match in Orpington the Running Horses secured a fine 8-7 in frames victory over their hosts the White Hart.
In the Premier Division the Hotshots only need two points against O’Connors A, the only team that can catch them, next week to win the championship and £210 after crushing O’Connors B by 12-3 in frames.
Tony Halpin 3/3 inspired the We Anchor in Hope to fight back from 4-0 in frames down to win by 8-7 in frames and have an outside chance of claiming second place and £155 next week with a win against Riley’s Rovers.
O’Connors A overcame Riley’s Rovers by 8-7 in frames in a tactical battle down in Woolwich and need to secure five points next week against Hotshots to dislodge the Pickwick from second spot.
New Eltham Social Club and the Fox Under The Hill were in a battle to get out of the playoff zone which was won 10-5 in frames by New Eltham with Alex Thompson breaking & dishing Steve Cole and Richard Merricks securing two frames for the Fox with his impressive finishing.
The Bellegrove Social Club are now eighteen points adrift at the bottom of the Premier Division and have been relegated to the First Division.
In the Reserve league Pickwick Academicals drew 6-6 in frames with the Crown which leaves the Woodman and New Eltham Social Club Reserves still leading the division.
